The KXS Series is a member of Rechner Sensors’ 3-Electrode family. By using the metal that the sensor is mounted in, or a metal plate opposite the material you are detecting, sensing distances of 10X those of standard capacitive sensors can be achieved. This allows you to detect far away targets, or targets that have very low dielectric properties (like foam packaging pellets, dielectric constant as low as 1.1)
This series can also reach high temperatures up to +482°F by choosing Metal + PTFE housing materials. That is the temperature of standard cooking equipment allowing this sensor to be used inside of ovens, fryers, and hot-melt glue machines.
